History

Intrepid Aviation was founded in 1994 by Ron Anderson and pursued a strategy to acquire and lease passenger aircraft which are candidates for conversion to freighter.

In 2000 Michael Goldberg, of Aerolease International and Aerofreighter, joined Intrepid Aviation as an investor and Board member. Together Mr. Anderson and Mr. Goldberg and their management teams have owned and leased, as principals, over 100 commercial aircraft including 727s, A300’s, A310’s, DC-10’s and DC-8 aircraft.

In 2006, the Intrepid Aviation Group, LLC, was formed as the investment vehicle through which Reservoir and the Intrepid Aviation management team will make their investments in commercial aircraft. Bill Boisture, now Chairman and CEO of Hawker Beechcraft, joined Intrepid Aviation in 2006 as an investor and board member, and served as Intrepid's President from 2006 to 2009. Mr. Boisture remains with Intrepid as a member of the board.

In late 2006, an MOU was signed with Airbus to become a launch customer of the new A330 Freighter, with a definitive agreement completed in May of 2007.  Intrepid Aviation’s order is the largest order for the A330 Freighter, as well as the largest freighter order ever placed with Airbus by a leasing company.
